How to Link to eBooks
- eBooks - Basic Collection (EBSCO)
Multidisciplinary eBook database. Covers everything from art and literature to economics and the sciences. Includes a wide selection of titles including reference works, scientific monographs, literature and fiction.
- Perform a search in the EBSCOhost eBook database and select a title.
- In the record summary for the book, you will see a Tools menu in the top right corner. Click the "Share" icon (a curvy arrow).
- The "Share" box will appear over top of the the article.
- Click "Create link" and then "Copy to clipboard".
- Paste the link to your MyCanvas course.
Linking to a Chapter
You can also link to an individual chapter or section. Just select the chapter or section you require from the table of contents and then follow the same steps.
Citation
It's a good idea to copy the citation for the ebook in case the link ever breaks and to model good citation practices to students. To find the citation, click the "Cite" link from the tools menu in the top right corner of the ebook record (a pair of quotation marks). The "Cite" box will open over top of the ebook record. Select a style from the drop-down list, and then click "Copy to clipboard" in order to paste the citation into your course. Note that some citations from the databases may have formatting errors so it's a good idea to double check them.
- Ebook Central
Multidisciplinary eBook database. Covers the topics of the arts, business, education, health, history, law, literature, religion and technology. Includes thousands of fiction & non-fiction works, scholarly monographs and classic literature.
- Perform a search in the Ebook Central database and select a title.
- Click on Share Link to Book under the book's cover and copy the link.
- Paste the link into the EZproxy Permalink Generator.
- Copy the link and add it to your MyCanvas course.

- Ovid eBooksHealth eBook database. Content includes titles on major nursing topics including the "Incredibly Easy!" series and a collection of core clinical books.
- Perform a search in the Books@OVID database and select a title.
- Click on the share icon on the left hand side of the page.
- Copy the link and add it to your MyCanvas course.
Note: If you are on Campus, you will need to proxy the link.
- Paste the copied link into the EZproxy Permalink Generator.
- Copy the link and add it to your MyCanvas course.

Please note: The below instructions work only when finding an ebook within the O'Reilly Learning Platform and not when locating a resource using the Library's Search Everything tool.
- Search for an ebook in the O'Reilly database.
- Once found, copy the URL from the browser address bar.
- To the front of the URL add this prefix: https://go.oreilly.com/mohawkcollege-ca/
- To your new URL, add this to the end behind the last forward slash: ?ar

Your final URL will look like this:

Steps to link to a playlist
- Add resources to your playlist by clicking the "Add to playlist" link next to a title
- To access your playlist, click the profile icon in the top right corner and select "Playlists" from the drop-down menu
- Click the playlist you wish to share
- Click the "Share" button and ensure that "Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology Playlist" is selected
- Click "Copy link" button
- Paste the URL into Notepad
- Add prefix to URL: https://go.oreilly.com/mohawkcollege-ca/
- To your new URL, add this to the end ?ar
- Your new URL will look like this:
