Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service available to registered faculty, students and staff at Mohawk College. We can request an article, book, video, etc. from another library in order to support your Mohawk-related coursework and research. Required textbooks may not be requested through ILL.

How to Request an Interlibrary Loan

  1. Check the Library Catalogue to ensure that we don’t own the item you need.
  2. Check the Search Everything tool or the Online Databases to ensure that access is not available through the library's collections.
  3. Complete an Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
  4. Include the complete reference  (Title, Author, ISBN, etc.)  including where you found the reference (reading list, database, bibliography, etc.)

It can take a few days or perhaps a few weeks to receive your ILL; the average wait time is one week. The loan period for a book is usually 10 days; the maximum loan period for a video is usually one week. If we cannot obtain what you need or it is not available in a reasonable time frame, library staff will be happy to work with you to find an acceptable alternative.
