Overview

Note: To save time and ensure that you are embedding the correct video, perform a search in the AVON database before searching for content within MyCanvas. You will then have the title of the video and can search for it directly when using the app. 

How to Embed an AVON Video Link in a Page

Navigate to the course page where you want to embed the link and click on the page title.

Click on the Edit button.

Click on the Plug icon in the editor tool bar and click on View All

From the Apps list choose Academic Video Online (AVON) - Library Database and click on the Done button.

Note: If you have used the AVON app in your current session, it will show automatically when clicking on the Plug icon.

The AVON search screen will appear. Enter search terms or the title of the video into the search box and click on the Magnifying glass.

Select a video to add from the results list by clicking on the Select this button.

Click on the Save button to finish embedding the link in the page.

How to Embed an AVON Video Into a Module

Click on the Plus icon for a Module.

From the Add dropdown menu, select the External Tool option.

From the list, click on Academic Video Online (AVON) - Library Database.

The AVON search screen will appear. Enter search terms or the title of the video into the search box and click on the Magnifying glass.

Select a video to add from the results list by clicking on the Select this button.

The Add Items page will display. The URL field and the Page Name is entered automatically. You can change the Page Name to a title of your choosing. Ensure that the Load in new tab is unselected and click on the Add Item button.

How to use an LTI Link from the AVON Database

Go to the AVON database and perform a search for a video.

Choose a video from the results list by clicking on the image.

Click on the Share option.

Copy the link from the Via Learning Tools Interoperability box and add the link to MyCanvas.
