Finding Peer Reviewed Articles

A peer reviewed article is reviewed by experts or scholars in the field who judge the article for quality and new contributions of knowledge to the discipline. Not all academic journals are peer reviewed. A journal's website will often note whether or not their articles go through a peer review process.

No login is required to access articles on campus. If you are off-campus, you will need to log in with your 9-digit student or employee ID and password. Example: 000101060@mohawkcollege.ca. Full details can be found on the Off-Campus Access page.

Find Peer Reviewed Articles In...

Enter your search terms into the Search Everything box on the Library Homepage and click Search.

In the Refine your results menu on the left-hand side of the screen, under Availability, select Peer-reviewed Journals. Be sure to click the Apply Filters button.

Note that the results will now have the Peer-reviewed icon under them.

Click on the Get PDF, Read Online or Available Online link to access the article. /

From the full record, look for View Online and then Full text availability. Choose any link to access the full-text.

When performing a search in an EBSCOhost Database, enter your search terms and check off the Peer reviewed filter to limit the search results to peer reviewed articles. If you don't know how to search for articles, review the How to Find Articles guide.

On the results page, your will see the Peer reviewed option selected and the Peer reviewed icon at the top of each item in your search results.
