Academic integrity issues often arise from unresolved challenges. While shortcuts like copying, falsifying data, or overusing AI tools may seem helpful, they hinder learning and long-term success. True understanding comes from doing the work yourself.
Mohawk College emphasizes six core values that guide academic conduct. Upholding these values is a shared responsibility and an expectation for all students. According to the Academic Integrity Policy, students have five key rights and responsibilities:
- Read and follow the academic integrity policy
- Develop the knowledge, skills, and values to maintain integrity
- Meet conduct expectations during all academic activities and protect the integrity of their work
- Seek clarification from faculty or coordinators if unsure about the integrity of an action
- Report suspected breaches by others to faculty, staff, or administration
By embracing these principles, students help foster a culture of honesty, respect, and academic excellence.
