Aviation, the art, and science of flying have been a practical reality since the early 20th century and Canadians have participated in its development almost from its inception.

In Canada, bush flying refers to aviation in sparsely populated northern areas. This type of aviation was key to developing services and industries in the North.

The Minister of Transport has designated February 23 as Canada’s National Aviation Day. It is an opportunity to recognize our aviation pioneers and celebrate Canadians who make safe air travel possible.
