When using Gen AI for your assignment, ask yourself the following questions:
- Did I check with my instructor to make sure I am allowed to use Gen AI for this assignment?
- Did I cross-reference the information I'm using from the AI, that is, compare it with other information sources to ensure accuracy?
- Did I find other sources in addition to what I found using the AI so I'm not relying on a single viewpoint?
- Does using this Generative AI tool still let me form my own conclusions, and did I reach these findings before or after using the AI?
- Have I informed myself on the subject matter using other methods prior to using generative AI?
- Have I considered other ways to find information, considering the environmental impact of using AI?
- Am I providing private information about myself or others in my prompts? Keep in mind that anything you enter into the AI can form part of its publicly available content it uses for training
- Have I copied directly from the AI? Consider that information provided by the AI may be copyrighted information and you could be inadvertently plagiarizing the work of others.
- Have I inputted the work of other people into the prompt? Consider that anything you input can be used to train the Large Language Model and you could be violating copyright if inputting the work of others.
- Have I cited any information provided by the Generative AI tool that I've used in my assignment and documented when and how I used the Generative AI tool, while also including my own ideas, thoughts and analysis?
