How to Find Permalinks


A permalink is the URL of an article, eBook, video or other electronic content located on the web. It is called a permalink because it’s not expected to change. Many of the Library's databases contain an option to generate permalinks so that you can easily get back to a resource or share it with others. Always look for the permalink option as opposed to copying a URL from the address bar as those links will not take you back to the resource.

Finding the Permalink in Ebsco

1 When you view the Detailed Record for an item, you will see a list of Tools on the right hand side of the page. Click on the Permalink icon.

2 A box containing the Permalink will appear at the top of the page which you can copy and save.

Finding the Permalink in Proquest

1 When you view the Detailed Record for an item, you will see a row of tabs beneath the title. Click on the Details tab.

2 Scroll down the page until you see the Document URL. This is the permalink which you can copy and save.
