The Hamilton Public Library (HPL) Bookmobile is a mobile library branch bringing leisure reading, popular books and more directly to Fennell campus! Come out to the Bookmobile to find your next great read or find a book online using the HPL Catalogue, place a hold for pick up at Mohawk Bookmobile, and it will be waiting for you when the Bookmobile next visits campus. No library card? No problem! You can register for a library card at the Bookmobile! Just bring along identification and proof of current address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Library cards are free to anyone living, working or studying in Hamilton. With your Library card you can:

  • Use it at any Library branch in Hamilton.
  • Borrow books, CDs, movies, magazines, video games and more.
  • Access online resources such as newspapers, articles and special databases (consumer reports, auto repair, genealogy research).
  • Download eBooks, eAudiobooks, music, movies and magazines.
  • Use Library computers and printers.
  • Use digital media labs and Makerspaces.
  • Access Hamilton's Civic Museums for free.

You can sign up for a Hamilton Public Library card at the Bookmobile or you can visit any branch or you can register online. When registering at the Bookmobile or at a branch, please bring identification and proof of your current address. Acceptable forms of identification are:

  • A valid driver's licence (permanent or temporary)
  • Ontario Photo card
  • Two pieces of current identification (one should include your current address)

You can search for items using the HPL Catalogue. You can also access online resources such as online magazines, journals and courses with your library card. You can place a hold on an item you find in the catalogue for pick up at Mohawk Bookmobile. If you are not able to get to the Bookmobile when the book is ready for you, it will be held for you at the Mohawk College Library Fennell Campus Cummings Library Customer Service Desk for one week. Just bring your Hamilton Public Library card or One Card to pick up your book(s).

You can return items you’ve borrowed to the Bookmobile, any HPL branch or to the Mohawk College Library Fennell Campus Cummings Library Customer Service Desk by the due date.

The loan period for circulating items is 21 days but there are exceptions. See the Borrowing Page on the HPL website for details about borrowing.

The HPL Bookmobile will park at Fennell Campus, on the north side of the David Braley Athletic & Recreation Centre (DBARC), Mondays, 12:00pm – 1:00pm.

Note: If you are studying at the Institute for Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) at McMaster University, the HPL Bookmobile stops at the McMaster Campus, Tuesdays, 2:30pm – 4:00pm, on Scholars Road.
