Meetings in Teams

Meetings in Teams include audio, video, and screen sharing. They're one of the key ways to collaborate in Teams. 

Note: At Mohawk College, several of the meeting options are not available due to our Outlook configuration.

Creating Teams Meetings in Outlook

Mohawk Staff: Connecting Outlook to Teams​

Because staff emails currently live on premise you can only create a Teams meeting through Outlook Calendars. In order for you to have the option to book Teams meetings download and install Microsoft Teams.

Once installed launch Outlook, this will add the Teams Plug-in to allow you to book a Teams meeting.  For Windows users, your screen will give you a Teams meeting option similar to one of the options shown below.

Creating a Teams Meeting is currently not available on Outlook for Mac or Outline Online.

  • Utilize the raise your hand feature if wanting to ask a question live
  • Set up an intentional space where the class is going to happen

Join a Teams Meeting

Join a Microsoft Teams meeting from your calendar invite, using the app or sign in using a Teams meeting invite:

Using the App

  • Join Microsoft Teams Meeting
  • Choose audio and video settings.
  • Select Join now.

Join a Microsoft Teams Meeting from a Browser (Only Chrome or Microsoft Edge)

Teams Web Meeting

  1. Type in your name and select Join now.
  2. If you have a Teams account, select sign in to view the meeting chat and more.
  3. Choose the audio and video settings you want.

Record a Meeting

Record your meetings in Teams to capture audio, video, and screen sharing activity. The recording happens in the cloud, and is saved to Microsoft Stream, so you can share it securely across your organization. 

Note: Whiteboard and shared notes are not captured in Teams recordings.

Meet Now

  1. Go to a Channel
  2. Use the Post tabs option and choose Meet now.  meet now icon

You will have a chance to setup a few things before you start your meeting:

  • Give it a title (if it is a private meeting, list the team members name in the title)
  • Setup video and pick your preferred audio source
  • When you are ready, hit Join now.

To invite people, use one of these options:

  1. Start typing their name or phone number under People
  2. Copy the meeting link by choosing Copy join info and paste that link into a message.
