MyCanvas Inbox (Conversations)

Canvas inbox

The Inbox tool, accessed from the Global Navigation Menu, is also called Conversations or messages.

Copies of all messages are sent to your Mohawk email address, provided you have not changed the notification preferences.

It is recommended to leave all notifications preferences at the default settings. This will ensure that a copy of each message will be sent to your Mohawk email account.

When you receive a copy of an Inbox message, it will come from the following email address "notifications@instructure.com". You can respond to the message from Outlook or MyCanvas.

Calendar

The Calendar in MyCanvas allows you to view assignments and events from all courses in one place. Calendar assignments and events can be filtered by course and synced with other web service calendars. The Calendar feature in Canvas automatically syncs with other features in Canvas course such as Assignments, Syllabus, and Grades and the global To Do list on the Dashboard. Some instructors may post appointment times to meet with them. You can sign up for on these from the calendar.

Announcements

Announcements are a course tool that your instructor may use to communicate with you about course activities and post interesting course-related topics. Your instructor can choose where you can view class announcements. You may see recent Announcements on your Course Home Page or in a link in your Course Navigation where you can view all course announcements.

Discussions

Discussions are public discussions with the instructor and all students in the course. You can adjust how you receive notifications for new messages in discussions via account notification settings in the global navigation menu. In some cases discussions may not be used in a course.

Instructors and students can upload images into their discussion post using the rich content editor toolbar.
