MyCanvas: Collaboration

Through Groups, Collaborations, and Conferences, there are far more options in MyCanvas to collaborate and learn. Use the resources below to learn more about these features.

Collaboration

MyCanvas leverages Microsoft Office 365 to allow multiple users to work together on the same document at the same time. Collaborative documents are saved in real-time, meaning a change made by any of its users will be immediately visible to everyone. Your instructor may have the entire class work on collaboration together or may ask to collaborate with you privately. Collaborations may also be used in groups.

The image below shows how to access your Office 365 account by choosing Office 365 and then the Log In button. Your login is your MohawkID.

Groups

Canvas groupsIn some courses instructors may require you to work with your classmates in groups. You could be graded individually or as a group on group assignments. If you have been added to a group in a course, the group menu item will appear in the global navigation.

Conferences

Conferences are primarily used for virtual lectures, virtual office hours and student groups. They can also be used to demonstrate technologies or troubleshoot technology issues online. Conferences can accommodate as many users as needed, though the recommended guideline is a limit of 100 users. Currently, Canvas integrates with BigBlueButton.
