Selecting Images

Images and charts help your audience remember your topic.

You can find images on the web but you will need to add the source to your reference list. You can legally use photos by:

  • looking for photos that are licensed under Creative Commons (in the public domain)
  • ask permission from the photographer
  • take your own photos
  • create your own images

Not sure if the image is in the public domain? Use the chart on this page to find out.

Use Images Wisely

  • Your images should highlight your topic
  • Use charts, graphs or infographics to represent data
  • Use shapes or lines to divide content areas
