How to Find Articles


Magazine, Journal and Newspaper articles can be found by searching Page 1+ or by searching the Library's online databases.

No login is required to access these resources on campus. If you are off-campus, you will need to log in with your 9-digit student or employee ID and password. Example: 000101060@mohawkcollege.ca. Full details can be found on the Off-Campus Access page.

Finding Articles

  1. On the Library Homepage, type your search terms into the search box. search box

  2. Select the checkbox Available Online located in the Refine your Results menu on the left-hand side of the screen under Availability.The Available Online limiter is located in the Refine your Results menu under Availability.

  3. From the Refine your results menu, select Articles from under the Resource Type option.             From under the Refine your results menu, select Articles from under Resource Type.

  4. Click the Apply Filters button.
    The Apply Filters button appears after making an option from the Refine your results menu.

  5. The Available Online link will appear under each item in your result list. Click on the link to open the article. The Available Online link will appear under each item in your result list.

  6. If you would like peer-reviewed articles, select Peer-reviewed in the Availability section of the Refine your results menu on the left side of the screen. Select Peer-Reviewed from under Availability in the Refine your results menu.
  1. Go to the A-Z Databases page and choose a database from the list. example of the a to z databases page

  2. This is an example of a search in the Academic OneFile Select Database. Enter some search terms or a title into the search box and click the Search button. search for ebook in ebscohost ebook database

  3. Your results list will be a mix of books, eBooks, etc. To refine your results to articles only, click on the Show More link under Source Types. example of using source types to limit to articles

  4. Check off limiters to ensure that your search results will all be articles and click on Update. example of limiting source types to articles

  5. You can see which limiters have been applied under Source Types. You can read the article by clicking on the HTML Full Text or PDF Full Text links. In some cases, you will see the Get the full text of this article link. This is a Full Text Finder link and involves a few extra steps to get to the article.
